Maria Andreu |
|
Born and raised in Alicante, Maria developed an interest in the travel and tourism industry early on. She moved to Malaga to study at the prestigious Hotel Management School there for 3 years, until moving to Madrid in 2006 to complete her practical studies. After finishing her course working in the 5 Star Hotel AC Santo Mauro, Maria worked in the reservations and marketing departments at two of Spain’s most luxurious hotels, the Hotel Ritz Madrid and the Hotel Arts in Barcelona. However, she then decided to pursue her interest in travel in a different direction and moved to Madrid & Beyond in November 2009. “A wonderful addition to the team” says Nigel!
When travelling in the past Maria has greatly enjoyed the beautiful city of Paris and feels that it has evokes something truly special that makes it stand apart from any other city in Europe.
Living in Madrid she enjoys the vibrant and active lifestyle that it offers, with dining and going out with friends being her great passions. When not out living the highlife Maria spends her time traveling, dancing and reading.

| Favourite Special Experience: |
The everyday lifestyle of Madrid never tires her. She never forgets her first visit to the Alhambra… |
| Favourite Hotels: |
Difficult to name just one – but generally speaking the smaller boutique hotels of Barcelona that have exceptional personal touches. |
| Best meal: |
Recently, it has to be tapas at the newly reopened Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid. With all the varied fresh produce there – oysters, cheeses from all over Spain, Iberian ham stall washed down with wines from Catalunya, Andalucia and Galicia. Delicious, albeit a little pricey! |
| Favourite Monuments / Museums: |
The Prado is incredible with its exceptional permanent display of Spanish masters. Also, in Barcelona, the Pedrera is a wonderful example of Gaudi’s work, with a very user friendly loft-museum that explains much of this genius’s work. |
| Favourite Fiesta: |
Las Fallas in Valencia, especially the explosive and exciting finale. |
| Favourite Escape: |
There’s no place like home and Maria loves returning to Alicante to visit friends and family two or three times a year. |
