Spanish Art – A Behind the Scenes Look.

Whilst our city guides for private city tours are outstanding, sometimes playing host to visiting heads of State and dignitaries, we also draw up on a select network of art historians, curators and art experts for more specialist tours.

For example, we are now into our fourth year in collaborating with a well-known Spanish art historian – Don Armando, the professor of Fine Arts at Universidad de Castilla la Mancha. He has been director at several of Madrid’s leading art galleries (Fernando Vijande, Juana Mordó and Helga de Alvear) and has curated or guest-curated over a hundred shows in Spain, amongst them exhibits by Andy Warhol, Robert Mapplethorpe, Luis Gordillo and Javier Vallhonrat. He has also worked for many years as an art critic and writer for publications such as the ABC Cultural and Artforum, and we are delighted to continue collaborating with him.

His expertise, amiability, behind the scenes contacts and extraordinary vision into the world of contemporary art make his private tours fascinating and revealing.

His visits usually focus on the works of art at the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Museo de Bellas Artes and the Palacio de Liria, although he can go ‘beyond’ contemporary art and re-visit some of the masterpieces at the Prado.
