Active Outdoors

Being active on vacation is becoming an increasingly more prominent part of the trips we arrange, it can also be an excellent way to experience some of the beautiful and diverse scenery that Spain and Portugal have to offer. As a team of individuals who all enjoy exercise, the outdoors and sport, we love responding to enquiries that request the “active outdoors” as part of an itinerary.

Over the years, we have developed a fabulous range of activities in an array of stunning environments. A key focus of ours, however, has always been to combine the physical activity with the opportunity to interact with the local culture.

For instance, hiking through some of the most breath-taking countryside in Spain and Portugal is fantastic, but even better when it involves meeting some wonderful local characters and savoring the local gastronomy. Our expert hiking guides are colorful characters too! Well in-tune with the best local routes, our guides have a great touch with people, enabling for a fun and memorable day out.

We cater for everyone… for those seeking leisurely horse riding through vineyards in Catalunya or the Alentejo, city running tours, mountain and road biking, to hardcore road racing in the Basque Country! For those who prefer the more serene side to the active outdoors, we can arrange fabulous private sailing charters throughout the Peninsula and the Islands… the Balearics, Canaries, Azores, Madeira. A boat excursion in Menorca will live long in your memory!

If you enjoy deep sea fishing or whale watching then don’t miss the Azores! We can also incorporate a range of water sports into your trip if you wish – these are ideal for families with teenagers who need entertaining! Avid surfers will know that northern Spain offers the vast Basque coastline and happens to qualify as a world-class surfing spot. In Portugal, surfers are spoilt for choice… from the coast of the Algarve to the more adventurous Alentejo or Azores and ending of course with Nazaré, home to the biggest waves in the world and where Rodrigo Koxa surfed a record-breaking 80ft-wave in 2018. Alternatively, you may prefer kayaking or scuba diving in the Baleares.

As well as excellent surf spots, Spain and Portugal also offer several prestigious golf courses such as the well-known Valderrama in Cádiz. Who says you can’t enjoy a leisurely game of golf either side of a visit to the Alhambra and an historic winery tour? In Portugal, there are plenty of fantastic courses, particularly in the Algarve and in Cascais, near Lisbon.

For those who aren’t afraid to experience greater heights, we arrange hot air ballooning over a range of spectacular locations including the foot of the Pyrenees, over Segovia, the Douro, rural Andalucía or the Alentejo and more! Whatever your preference, whether you are looking to unwind or challenge yourself, we can customize fantastic days out once we know what type of experience you’re looking for.
