Rest & Relaxation
Whilst we encourage you to make the most of your vacation with our private guides, our food and wine experts, the insider experiences, active pursuits etc., we also realize that this is your vacation and you need some downtime at some point. Apart from taking advantage of some very inviting spas in hotels, we love to recommend those places where you can properly enjoy that time at leisure: a gorgeous country inn outside of Ronda, a beautiful restored family farm estate in the Alentejo countryside, over the top luxury in our favorite 5* property in mainland Spain overlooking the Mediterranean where the hotel becomes the destination, a wellness and design heaven overlooking the vineyards of the Douro Valley. Or a designer retreat, located on an unspoilt beach in the Costa Brava or the Algarve where waking up to the sound of the lapping waves of sea is just part of the relaxation experience, where there’s also a casual bistro, bicycles to hire, and yoga classes to help you unwind and enjoy the laid-back beach vibe.
When you’re in parts of spain as diverse as rural andalucia, the pyrenees and menorca, where the stunning views and/or beaches are your main company, sometimes it’s best just to relish the lull in the busy itinerary that your stay permits… and savor the moment.
Whilst boat trips are mentioned on our Active Outdoors section, we feel it’s worth emphasizing here that a boat trip can be one of the most relaxing and rewarding activities of your trip. Our private boat excursions in the Balearic Islands or the Algarve all offer the perfect opportunity to combine so much of what we recommend to you when traveling in Spain: contact with locals; stunning scenery, great cuisine, exercise (snorkeling in turquoise waters) and heaps of fun!
Come to Spain and/or Portugal and enjoy the vacation you seek. We’re here to make it happen.

Oscos is a wonderful escape back into the natural surrounds with great walks through lush forests, amazing views, deep local history and very quaint small villages.

It was also an excellent idea to end with Finca Cortesin. You were right, this is a GREAT hotel! We literally didn’t leave the room! It was windy on the coast while we were there, so we pretty much stayed in that magnificent setting, and spent lots of time in the spa (thank you also for introducing us to the concept of Thai massage. Wow!) I want to go back again with our girls.

The Binigaus Vell hotel was marvelous. We loved the authentic feel of the room and the beautiful surroundings. The beaches were amazing. We’ve never swum in such beautiful blue water. The boating trip with our guide was so much fun. We jumped in the water at every cala and playa he took us to – it was pure joy.

It was so relaxing to know that everything had been taken care of in advance so all that we had to do was sit back and relax and take in everything Spain had to offer.
